From The Inside Out

When we think about skincare, obviously we thin about the outside, our actual skin that is. But a lot of the times, we don't always pay attention to how what we put into our bodies, affects the outside as well. Today, I wanted to share a little bit about how some simple changes to your nutrition can really benefit your skin as well!

As the largest organ on the body, the skin does so much more than we may be aware of. This organ acts as a protective barrier between the inside and the outside of the body. Skin actually accounts for around 16% of total body weight in adults which when stretched out, can cover a surface area of about 22 square feet. This is all just to give you an idea of how much we rely on our skin without always realizing it. With that being said, when we put into our bodies as well as on top of our bodies, can be highly influential to how our skin protects us.

  • Superfoods for Super Skin

When it comes to the foods we should eat, it really comes down to the vitamins or nutrients that those foods have that influence our skin most. One of the best superfoods to truly get your skin to glow is Vitamin C. This superfood is a powerful antioxidant that is not only needed to maintain a strong immune system, but it is the key ingredient for healthy, radiant skin.

With oranges being the most common of the bunch, you can also get a good amount of Vitamin C from blueberries, papaya, strawberries, kiwi, and even sweet potatoes! Whether it's mixing some berries into your yogurt or making a summer fruit salad, there are tons of easy ways to incorporate these foods into your day.

Foods that are high in fats such as advocate, nuts and seeds can help keep your skin plump and bright!!

  • Hydration is Always Key

I know that we have all been told NUMEROUS times that getting enough water daily is vital to not only helping our organs function, it definitely aids in keeping our skin bright and hydrated.

The standard 13 cups for men and 9 cups for women has been a surprisingly challenging task for a lot of people to get daily. Some ways you can incentivize yourself to getting more water is making things like fruit infused water - I love to use lime and cucumber the most - or always keeping a water bottle filled and in the fridge ready to go when needed. I personally love to use these packets from Liquid I.V. which you can find here (you can also use the code BLONDEBOMB_CHEL for a discount). Each packet contains a formula called CTT (Cellular Transport Technology) which is based on a ratio of ingredients designed to enhance faster absorption of water into your bloodstream. Add one to your water and you'll get as much hydration as THREE bottles of water!! WIth a variety of flavors to choose from, water will never be boring again and your skin will thank you!

  • Liquid Nutrients

If you're not sold yet, maybe you're a fan of Coconut water. Not only does it possess hydrating properties, it is also a great source of Vitamin C, Potassium, Calcium and Magnesium! I mean cmon, that's a powerful Coconut!!

Lastly, Juices - when not filled with sugar - can be a great way to get nutrients in one serving, plus they usually taste pretty good! Try making your own at home instead of resorting to the ones at the grocery store, those are packed with preservatives and added sugars.

  • For Your Wellbeing

As you can see, there are very simple changes we can make to our diet that will help keep our skin healthy and glowing. Reward yourself from the inside out through only a few changes. Start with little changes and let the results speak for themselves. Before you know it, you won't be able to go a day without supplying your body with these important nutrients and your skin will be brighter than ever!

Now, I love to try new skin care products just as much as the next person, but knowing I can better my skin through providing nutrients, well then sign me up!! Water and fruits help our wellbeing not only by providing nutrients, but by helping our skin stay hydrated and bright!
